Unfortunately time did not permit for me to speak at my big brothers funeral. Below is the eulogy that I prepared in his honor and wanted to share. Rest in Peace Donald in the kingdom of God. XOXO - your little sister Dawn
I know this is a very sad day for everyone here, but it is an honor and privilege for me to pay tribute today to a very special person, my brother Donald. My name is DawnMarie, and I am Donald’s little sister. My brother was remarkable in so many ways. He lived his life to the fullest and touched so many people during his time here with us which was suddenly cut short.
As I began to reach out for the right words to express my thoughts about my brother Donald, I remembered the many valued and meaningful roles that he played throughout his life.
First and foremost I see him as the devoted son, amazing brother, loving uncle, cousin, friend and finally husband. Donald loved, fishing, crabbing, the Yankees, and the New York Giants.
Donald was a comfort to our mom and dad when they were alive. He was very devoted to them and took care of them in sickness and in health. I always knew they were ok because he was there watching over them. He was a very respectful son and caring man.
He was also a good friend to so many. Donald could be counted and depended on always. Whether you needed simple advice, assistance with a car repair, an empathetic ear, a last-minute babysitter, or a shoulder to lean on; he was your man; always ready and willing to lend a hand whenever he could.
As I look out at the faces here today, I see many family members and friends. I know that you too will miss the joy he brought into your lives and will remember him in your own special way.
Donald was known for speaking out when it really counted; his strong principles did not allow him to let something wrong stand unchallenged. He was a man of passion and never let anyone or anything stand in the way of getting his point across especially when it was something where he knew he was in the right or truly believed in.
To my brother Donald, as I stand here, I have unanswered questions and tears begging for one more day in your company; wondering why you left us so soon. You may not even realize it, but you leave an amazing number of memories for us all to recollect. Too many to recite here today. You may not have taught me how to drive a car, but you did teach me how to rebuild a carburetor, what a four-bolt main engine and posi rear were and how to use a pair of pantyhose as a makeshift fan bet if ever mine should break. I will miss you Donald, but I will always remember you with respect, admiration and always, ALWAYS love!
My world will truly never be the same without you, but I will hold your memory close to my heart for the rest of my days until we meet again in paradise.
Thank you for reading.

I love you Donald. I wish I could see you one more time or hear your voice over the phone. I know you can see my tears and wouldn't want me to cry but my heart is broken and full of memories. I pray God gives our family the strength to get us through the heartache of losing you so soon. You'll be forever in my heart Donald and I'll see you on the other side of the stars.
