Obituary of Mary E. Stefan
Mary Elizabeth Stefan
Mary (Mae) Elizabeth Stefan (nee Campbell) of Willingboro, NJ died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 91 on April 4, 2020. Born on November 10, 1928 and raised in South Philadelphia, PA Mary is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Anthony Stefan, mother Mary Elizabeth Campbell, father John Francis Campbell and sister Dorothy Campbell Krohn.
Mary was the beloved mother of Eileen Elizabeth Stefan and Cathleen (Christopher) Sabatino and proud grandmother of Kimberly Jean (Ben) Brumsey, Russell James Richards IV, Ashley Elizabeth Richards, Devon Stefan Richards, Gabrielle Sabatino and Christopher Sabatino, Jr. She also had three great-grandchildren that always made her smile so big every time she saw them: Francesca Giovanna Richards, Alissandra Elizabeth Maldanado and Brighton Noel-Jean Brumsey. She is survived by her nephew Jack Krohn and her niece Sharon Krohn Boggs.
Mary met her husband Lawrence at Fidelity Bank and Trust of Philadelphia where they both were employed. They married, moved to Willingboro in 1960, bought a house and started a family. When the children were grown, Mary worked for the Willingboro Board of Education as a dedicated teacher's aide until she retired. She was a devoted and loving wife of 49 years, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and had such a bubbly and effervescent spirit, a big smile and just with her facial expressions alone could make you laugh and brighten your day. She was always there for us when we needed her. She enjoyed many things such as going to the family's shore home, traveling, making clothes for her children, singing and dancing around the house, making Christmas time special, and she especially enjoyed family birthday parties. Watching the sunset and following the moon as it went over her house were also favorite pastimes but most importantly, she enjoyed taking care of her family, spending time with our dog Rocky and making the family house a home.
Mary was a praying woman and very faithful and generous to Corpus Christi, her church home in Willingboro. She supported her favorite charity of St. Jude's Hospital as well. She and her husband enjoyed the outings, events and friendship they found as members of the Willingboro Friendship Guild. She also really enjoyed a sweet treat over a good cup of tea and long talks with her dear friend and neighbor, Darlene Ethridge.
She was a classy woman, a sharp dresser and will be remembered as a loving, kind and generous mother and friend enjoying the simple things in life...family, friends and a bowl of ice cream every night before bed.
