Obituary of John W. Schwantes

John Walter Schwantes, of Willingboro, NJ, died on July 11, 2019 at his home . He was born on February 12, 1942 in Whitefish Bay, WI and grew up in Wauwatosa, WI. John graduated from Marquette University, and was commisioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. In 1964 he married a young teacher named Marcia Preiss, and together they had four sons. John continued to serve on active duty until retiring as a Major in 1984.

After retiring as a Marine, John was a salesman for Prudential Insurance and Allstate Insurance for several years. He was an active outdoorsman , and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed.

John is survived by his brothers Peter (Rosemary), Michael (Margie), Jim (Lil), his sister Anne (Harry), his sons Jay (Ann), Joe (Diane), Jamie (Jill), his six grandchildren Abbey (Jeff Dallas), Ryan, Evan, Jeffrey, Aidan, Jack, and his dog Turquoise. John was predeceased by his parents Norbert and Mary (Cain), the love of his life Marcia (Preiss), his brother Mark, his son Jeff, and his dogs Suzy, Butch, Sergeant, Gypsy, Pudge, Bubba, Binky, Belle,Topaz, Onyx, and Sapphire.

Liturgy of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, July 18, 2019 10:30 am at Corpus Christi Church, 11 South Sunset Road, Willingboro, NJ. Relatives and friends may call Thursday morning, 8:00 am – 10:00 am at the Goes - Scolieri Funeral Home, 212 Levitt Pkwy, Willingboro, NJ. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
