Obituary of Joseph J. McClosky
Joseph J. McClosky passed away suddenly on May 8 th 2019 at his home in Edgewater Park, NJ.
Joe was born March 1, 1930 in Glen Lyon, PA and grew up in Wanamie , PA with his four siblings. Aftegraduating high school Joe entered the US Army and was proud to serve his country for ten years. His proudest moment was being chosen, at the age of nineteen, to present Mamie Eisenhower with beautiful bouquet of white roses as her husband, General Eisenhower retired from service.
In 1954 Joe met the love of his life, Mary E. McGovern. They were wed in 1955 and lived in Hawaii and Levittown, PA before settling down in Willingboro, NJ (then Levitt own) in 1959, to raise their family. Mary passed away in 2009 and J o e kept busy with his many interests, although he missed her dearly.
Joe was a loyal and devout communicant of Corpus Christi Church in Willingboro. He served as head usher for many years ,always there to greet parishioners and give out hugs. Joe was always busy and had many interests and hobbies. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Seniors Club, The American Legion and The Burlington Entertainers.Joe also enjoyed refereeing soccer and did so until he was seventy years old.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory his four children, Leo (Sara) McClosky ,Greg (Gail) McClosky, Helen(Rick) Pease and Joe (Diane) McClosky. Joe will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Shannon(Brandon) ,Joseph (Jennifer) , Megan, Mary, Michael, Maggie, Anna, Kyle and Alyand his three great - grandchildren, Madison, Colin and Juliana along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends
Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 15,2019, 10:30am at the Corpus Christi R.C. Church, 11 South Sunset Road, Willingboro, NJ. Relatives and friends may call Wednesday Morning 9am until 10am at the Goes – Scolieri Funeral Home, 212 Levitt Parkway, Willingboro, NJ. Interment with US Army Honors : Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veteran Memorial Cemetery , Wrightstown, NJ.
