Aunt Rubie, the family and I sends our sincere condolences to you and the children with a heavy heart. Words can't express the emptiness we feel after the loss of an honorable, good, loving, descent and humbled man, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. We all have some soul searching to do in trying to figure out a way to move forward, yet still cherish and never forget the good Uncle Charles stood for and all that he did to help anyone in need; especially his family and friends. I'm pledging to try to keep his legacy going by trying to be as descent, loving, good and humbled as I can, as I know that is what he would want me to do; because this is what we have often talked about during our weekly telephone conversations. I will cherish the good times the entire family had when everyone would come home to Dad and Mom's house down in Fort Pierce, Florida for the Christmas holidays; man we had so much fun and he said that he wanted to do that again one day but....I can go on and on about all I learned from him during the days I worked with him in his Electrical Business; or about time he and the family came to visit me at Fort Dix, New Jersey when I enlisted in the United States Army as a 17 year old Private E-1; or about day he came to Fort Bragg, North Carolina and promoted me to Command Sergeants Major E-9 at the 82nd Airborne Division Headquarters with the Commanding General. Those were great times and just some of the memories that I'm going to hold on, to keep me moving forward in a positive way as he would want; and I pray the entire family and friends will find some good times shared with my uncle and do the same. To Aunt Rubie, we love you; to the Family, we grieve and pray with you; and to Uncle Charles, we praise, respect and cherish you. Rest In Peace Chief; this is Smash signing out. ATW!
