Obituary of Charles T. Juliana
Charles Thomas "Chuck" Juliana passed away in his home on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at the age of 85. Devoted husband to Dorothea (nee Vessio) for over 58 years, and loving father to 4 children. Charles was the youngest of six siblings to Nicholas and Rose (nee DiNote) Juliana, all of whom have predeceased him. Born on October 27, 1932 and raised in Moorestown, NJ, he was an All Burlington County football and baseball star at Moorestown High School, who went on to play football at Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland. Like his three older brothers, he enlisted in the United States military, where "Jules" honorably served at the Tokyo US Army Hospital during the Korean Theater. Charles married the love of his life, Dorothea, on July 18, 1959. They settled in Willingboro, where they raised their family and remained married for over 58 years. He served as Burlington County Clerk Administrator from 1973 to 1990, and worked as an Executive at Alaimo Engineering in Mount Holly, NJ for the next 20 years. In the early days, he was very active in the Willingboro Jaycees, Willingboro CYO, Burlington County Republican party, and later in the Italian-American Club. Chuck also served on the Burlington County Special Services Educational Foundation Board of Trustees, and the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves (ESGR), where he helped other veterans return home after their years of service in foreign wars. He was a man of service to others, described by friends and family as a man of integrity, compassionate, supportive, and a role model for doing the right things in life.
"Pop", as he was also known to many of his children's and grandchildren's friends, portrayed a devout love of family and faith which he instilled in just about everyone he touched in his extended family and circle of friends. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, whether on an annual vacation together, making wine, or just sitting around the table for an Italian Sunday dinner. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Eagles as well as his grandchildren's various activities, rarely missing a game or recital. Chuck is survived by his wife Dorothea; four children: Chuck (Rachel), Steve (Michele), Thea Dranoff (Mike), and Michael (Aimee); and eleven grandchildren: Alissa D, Nicole D, Stephen R, Adriana R, Charles T II, Isabella R, Maxwell G, and John M (Jack), and was predeceased by Marc N, Julianna R, and Sofia R.
Chuck's favorite entertainer was Frank Sinatra, and so, it was apropos that he passed away on Sinatra's birthday. The Patriarch of his family, he leaves a legacy of laughter and love. He will be sorely missed. He certainly "…lived a life that was full…" and did it "His Way".
